Our Story

Established almost thirty years ago, the european restaurant is a family business, which has grown and developed through the years.

Owner and Chef Gian Carlo Slaviero, followed classical training in a leading hotel in Turin before running a number of establishments in Italy, Jersey and finally the UK. His previous restaurants included Valentino's and Il Ponte Vecchio in Nottingham and L'incontro in Stamford. At The european, he broadened his offering of Italian cuisine to include other European influences.

The european's enduring success in an ever-changing hospitality environment is down to its ability to provide classic cuisine with a contemporary twist, in an environment, which is always inviting. We work endlessly to perfect our dishes, standards and service. Combined, this makes the difference between an average and a truly memorable dining experience.

Gian Carlo leads the kitchen team, which is bolstered by lead Chef, Salem and Sous and Pastry Chef Inga.

In the restaurant, head waitress Valentina is accompanied by Rossella, and their team of staff who are knowledgeable about what we offer and are here to assist clients with suggestions, in addition to making sure that they are looked after in true European style.
